A Nueva Ecija legislator on Friday lauded as a dream come true the enactment of laws to establish two regular campuses of a state university within the province's first congressional district.
First District Representative Estrellita Suansing said the creation of regular school campuses of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) here and in the remote municipality of Nampicuan can now be realized after President Rodrigo Duterte signed the laws for this purpose.
These are Republic Acts (RAs) 117592 and 117593 for NEUST-Sto. Domingo campus and NEUST-Nampicuan campus, respectively.
"Ang parehong NEUST campuses sa nasabing mga bayan ay inaasahan na mag-aalok ng iba't ibang mga kurso, kabilang ang short-term, technical-vocational, undergraduate, at graduate courses na abot sa kanilang kakayahan (Both NEUST campuses in the said towns are expected to offer different courses, including short-term, technical-vocational, undergraduate and graduate courses that can be reached depending on their capacity)," the three-term legislator said in an interview.
The two campuses, she added, are the fulfillment of their dream to make quality education accessible to students in the district.
"Hangad po natin na mas marami pang mga estudyante ang mahikayat na makapagtapos ng kanilang pag-aaral (It is our desire that more students will be encouraged to finish their studies)," Suansing said.
She said the campuses will cater not only to students from the said municipalities but also to those from the adjoining places.
