Tokyo: US President Donald Trump’s high tariffs severely impacted earnings at seven major automakers in Japan from April to June, with Nissan Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp. experiencing fiscal first-quarter losses for the first time in five years.
According to Philippines News Agency, the earnings reports for the first three months of fiscal year 2025 revealed that Nissan recorded a group net loss of 115,758 million yen, compared to a net profit of 28,562 million yen in the previous year. Meanwhile, Mazda reported a net loss of 42,104 million yen, down from a profit of 49,814 million yen year on year.
