NGCP Restores Five Transmission Lines, Five Still Unavailable Due to Typhoon Tino

Manila: The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has successfully restored five transmission lines in the Visayas and Mindanao regions in the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, known internationally as Kalmaegi. Despite these efforts, two lines are only partially energized, while five others remain inoperative.

According to Philippines News Agency, NGCP issued an advisory early Wednesday confirming that the Nabas-Unidos 69kV line, which provides service to the Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO), was restored at 11:02 p.m. on Tuesday. Other transmission lines restored by 10 p.m. Tuesday include the Nabas-Sapian 69kV Line, serving Aklan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AKELCO); the Nabas-Culasi-Bugasong 69kV Line, catering to the Antique Electric Cooperative (ANTECO); the Amlan-San Carlos 69kV Line, providing service to both Negros Oriental 1 Electric Cooperative (NORECO I) and NORECO II; and the Bislig-Pob Barobo 69kV Line, which serves the Surigao del Sur 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SURSECO I).

The report also indicated that two lines are currently partially energized. These include the Ormoc-San Isidro 69kV line, servicing the Don Orestes Romualdez Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DORELCO), Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative Inc. (SOLECO), LEYECO III, LEYECO V, and the Biliran Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BILECO); and the Ormoc-Baybay 69kV line, which caters to LEYECO IV.

However, five transmission lines remain down. These are the Maasin-Baybay 69kV Line, serving the Leyte IV Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO IV); Calongcalong-Asturias 69kV Line, which services the Cebu III Electric Cooperative (CEBECO III); Compostela-Consolacion 69kV Line, catering to CEBECO II; Bacolod-San Enrique 69kV Line, serving the Negros Electric and Power Corporation (NEPC) and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO); and the San Jose-Bugasong 69kV line, which caters to ANTECO.

The NGCP report further noted that three additional 138kV lines and one 230kV line are currently unavailable, though no further details were provided. The organization has mobilized line crews who are actively conducting patrols and carrying out simultaneous restoration activities in accessible areas.
