New Tropical Depression Marce to Enter PAR, Uncertain Path Ahead.

Manila: A new tropical depression has formed outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is expected to enter the region by Monday, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in their 5 p.m. bulletin on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the center of this tropical depression was located approximately 1,315 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas as of 4 p.m. Once inside PAR, it will be named Marce. The system is anticipated to move northwestward at a brisk pace initially, then slow down by Tuesday while turning northward.

From Wednesday onwards, the forecast predicts the cyclone will move northward and then westward at a slower speed over the area east of extreme Northern Luzon. This portion of the forecast carries high uncertainty due to two potential paths: one directing the cyclone more westward towards extreme Northern Luzon or mainland Luzon, and the other causing it to move erratically over the Philippine Sea east of ext
reme Northern Luzon.

The cyclone’s trough is expected to start bringing rains to extreme Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Luzon as early as Monday or Tuesday. If the tropical cyclone’s path shifts towards a landfall scenario, heavy to torrential rainfall could impact Northern Luzon from Thursday or Friday onwards, as indicated by PAGASA.

Throughout October, the Philippines, particularly Luzon, has been severely hit by Super Typhoon Julian, Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, and Super Typhoon Leon, leaving significant damage in their wake.
