Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reported a significant milestone with the recording of 86,614 incident calls through the Unified 911 emergency response system during its first year of operation, boasting a rapid response rate of 96.38 percent within the five-minute benchmark.
According to Philippines News Agency, the release of these figures coincides with the first anniversary of the Unified 911 system, which was inaugurated nationwide on September 11, 2025. This initiative, one of the flagship programs of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) under Secretary Jonvic Remulla, aims to streamline emergency responses by providing the public with a single access point for emergencies. The service has expanded to include nine command centers across the country, enhancing the coordination and reach of emergency services.
During the period from August 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, the system managed a total of 494,338 emergency-service calls. Of these, 132,232 calls, or 26.74 percent, were identified as legitimate, while the remaining were categorized as prank calls, other calls, or those requiring different handling strategies. The call breakdown included 223,253 prank calls, 138,853 classified as others, 80,247 calls responded to, 36,995 requests for medical assistance, and 14,990 fire-related incidents.
Focusing on incident calls specifically monitored by the PNP, 86,614 were documented across regional police offices and units within the same timeframe. Impressively, 96.38 percent of these were addressed within five minutes, although 3,077 calls did exceed this response benchmark.
The largest portion of these incident calls involved public order disturbances, totaling 29,746 calls. This was followed by 21,615 traffic-related incidents and 15,517 calls concerning other law enforcement and judicial matters. Additionally, 10,637 calls were related to public safety and emergency responses, 4,484 involved crimes against persons, and 3,690 were linked to crimes against property. The system also recorded incidents related to firearms and violence, illegal drugs, and illegal gambling.
