Manila: The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has announced the postponement of its scheduled games on Tuesday, affected by the adverse weather conditions brought by Typhoon Uwan, internationally known as Fung-wong. The decision follows the typhoon’s impact, which has already caused disruptions after making landfall in Dinalungan, Aurora.
According to Philippines News Agency, despite Typhoon Uwan expected to be over the West Philippine Sea by Tuesday, Malacanang has ordered the suspension of classes and work for two days in the National Capital Region. This directive has led the NCAA to prioritize the safety of all individuals involved, prompting the rescheduling of the games.
NCAA management committee chairperson Melchor Divina, representing host school Mapua, emphasized the decision’s alignment with official announcements. In a memo shared on the NCAA’s Facebook page, Divina stated, “In view of the announcement from Malacanang Palace regarding the suspension of classes and work in the National Capital Region on November 10-11, 2025, due to the threat of Super Typhoon Uwan, the NCAA prioritizes the safety of student-athletes, spectators, and all stakeholders.”
The postponed games, originally set to take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, included a significant matchup between archrivals San Beda and Letran, along with an earlier game between Lyceum and league leaders Perpetual Help. These matches are pivotal in the ongoing competition for quarterfinal placements.
Divina assured stakeholders that a revised schedule will be communicated once circumstances improve and safety is guaranteed.
