Napolcom Advocates for Stricter Control Over Police Uniform Distribution

Manila: The National Police Commission (Napolcom) is advocating for tighter control over the production, sale, and use of official Philippine National Police (PNP) uniforms. Napolcom Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan emphasized the need for stricter regulations in a recent meeting with accredited suppliers, highlighting concerns over the growing presence of unauthorized sellers.

According to Philippines News Agency, Calinisan expressed concerns about the “unregulated activities” of sellers operating near Camp Crame and on various online platforms. He noted that these activities not only compromise the authenticity of the uniforms but also undermine institutional standards. “The PNP uniform is not just clothing, it is a badge of honor that represents duty, integrity, and public service,” Calinisan stated, underscoring the importance of maintaining the symbol’s integrity.

Napolcom’s initiative aims to intensify enforcement against illegal sellers to ensure that only accredited suppliers are involved, thus maintaining accountability within the system. This move was prompted by a recent incident involving a Halloween partygoer, Daryll Isidro, who went viral for wearing a police uniform with ripped sleeves. Isidro has since apologized for his actions.

The Philippine National Police has launched an investigation to trace the origins of the uniform worn by Isidro, reflecting the seriousness of the issue and Napolcom’s commitment to preserving the sanctity of the police uniform.
