DTI and Converge Partner to Enhance Digital Training for MSMEs

Pasig city: Small businesses got a boost in terms of training for digital readiness following the partnership of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Converge ICT Solution Inc.

According to Philippines News Agency, during the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Pasig City, Trade Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza Bautista, supervising head of the DTI-Competitiveness and Innovation Group, said the tie-up will help empower owners of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and equip them with technological knowledge.

Bautista emphasized the goal of encouraging MSMEs to embrace technology and digitalization, believing that the partnership with Converge strengthens this initiative. Through the collaboration, entrepreneurs will gain access to tools and opportunities to compete in the global market.

She highlighted the importance of empowering MSMEs with skills in the latest technological innovations to ensure their continued growth. Under the MOU, Converge will offer connectivity packages and digital solutions to complement DTI programs. These efforts focus on aiding startups and traditional enterprises in adopting digital tools, AI-supported platforms, and other emerging technologies.

An AI and start-up center has been established at the DTI office in Makati City, where MSME owners and their staff can undergo training to improve their operations.

Converge Senior Vice President for SME Group Dindo Marzan noted that MSMEs account for 99.6 percent of domestic businesses, underscoring the need to support these firms. He stated that every business relies on effective connectivity and practical digital solutions, expressing honor in supporting the DTI’s efforts to provide MSMEs access to necessary technology and assistance for sustainable growth.
