Misamis oriental: The Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office (MORPPO) has dismissed one of its officers following allegations of raping an underage girl. The officer was relieved of duty and is currently detained after undergoing an inquest proceeding, as confirmed by MORPPO chief Col. Al Abanales.

According to Philippines News Agency, Col. Abanales emphasized that MORPPO is taking necessary administrative actions aligned with existing Philippine National Police (PNP) rules and regulations. He reiterated that sexual violence will not be tolerated among police officers in active service.

In a related development, Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr., director of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao, reported that two counts of rape charges have been filed against two police trainees accused of abusing a fellow trainee. Additionally, a police captain and a corporal from the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office are under investigation for acts of lasciviousness concerning the alleged sexual assault of a college intern.

Brig. Gen. Babagay stated that any misconduct within the police ranks would face severe penalties as the department enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy against all forms of abuse perpetrated by its personnel.
