Ilocos region: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released 643,386 family food packs to local government units (LGUs) in the Ilocos Region as of Sept. 8. The distribution aims to support ongoing relief operations that have been underway since Aug. 5.

According to Philippines News Agency, data from the DSWD - Ilocos Region indicates that 578,799 of these food packs were allocated to Pangasinan LGUs. Meanwhile, 38,854 packs were delivered to La Union, 13,309 to Ilocos Sur, and 12,424 to Ilocos Norte. The distribution of these essential supplies to affected families is ongoing, providing much-needed relief to communities hit by severe flooding.

Residents of the region have expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance. Teresita Valdez from Minien East, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, shared her relief upon receiving the food pack, noting that it has been a vital resource for her family during these challenging times. Barangay Captain Fernando Erguiza of Barangay Bocboc, San Carlos City, also acknowledged the significant impact of the DSWD's support, expressing appreciation for the relief efforts that have benefited many residents.

The situation remains dire in some areas, with Armando Quitalig from Doyong, San Carlos City, reporting annual flooding in his community, which has now reached waist-deep levels. He commended the DSWD personnel for their continued support and emphasized the importance of the food packs in sustaining families during this crisis.
