Quezon city: The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has announced a rescheduling of its public consultation regarding fare hike petitions for public utility vehicles (PUVs) to November 12. This decision follows disruptions caused by Super Typhoon Uwan, which led to a suspension of government work on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the LTFRB released a statement indicating that the consultation aims to present the basis of the proposed fare adjustments, gather inputs from stakeholders, and ensure transparency and inclusivity in the decision-making process. Public participation is encouraged to ensure that diverse perspectives are considered before a final decision on the PUV fare adjustment is made.
The LTFRB has invited all concerned stakeholders, including commuters, operators, drivers, media, and the general public, to attend and share their views regarding the proposed fare adjustment. This invitation underscores the agency’s commitment to an inclusive approach in addressing the fare hike issue.
Last Friday, the LTFRB announced the consolidation of all fare increase petitions for PUVs on November 10. This move is part of the agency’s efforts to address the backlog of more than 37,000 filed petitions and motions. Furthermore, LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza II has instructed regional directors to conduct their own public consultations and submit the results by November 14, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of public opinion on the matter.
