Mandaluyong city: Arellano University advanced to the V-League Collegiate Challenge semifinals after a closely contested match against Adamson University, securing a 25-23, 12-25, 25-22, 14-25, 15-13 victory at Gameville Central Park on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Carlhynne Maneja played a pivotal role despite scoring only two points, delivering crucial plays that secured the win for the Lady Chiefs. The team was leading 13-12 in the decisive fifth set after a combined effort from Heart Villaflores and Princess Al-ag, who scored four points together. Adamson's Princess Dote managed to level the score, but Maneja's decisive actions clinched the victory.

Crisanta Servidad spearheaded the Lady Chiefs' offense with 21 points, all achieved through attacks, marking their fifth consecutive win. Catherine Chu contributed significantly with 11 points and 19 receptions, while Villaflores and Fhaye Mangubat added nine and eight points, respectively.

On the opposing side, Nigerian player Frances Morde stood out for the Lady Falcons, scoring 23 points and making 12 receptions, despite the team's first loss in five games. Lhouriz Tuddao and Lana Barrera supported with 14 points and nine digs, and 13 points and 12 receptions, respectively.

Looking ahead, Arellano's schedule includes matches against San Beda on September 20 and the University of the East on September 26. Adamson will aim to secure a semifinal berth in their upcoming game against the University of Santo Tomas on September 20.

In another match, the College of Saint Benilde triumphed over San Beda University with scores of 25-14, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19. Camila Bartolome was the top scorer for the Lady Blazers with 23 points, while Janelle Bacar led the Lady Red Spikers with 14 points.
