Mandaluyong City: King’s Montessori School (KMS) downed California Academy, 25-18, 27-25, Friday to remain unbeaten in Pool C of the 2025 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League (SGVIL) Rising Stars Cup Division 1 at La Salle Green Hills gym in Mandaluyong City. Paula Palma and Sheniry Neverio scored nine and six points, respectively, as the KMS improved its win-loss record to 2-1.
According to Philippines News Agency, the debuting Cal Babies took a 21-16 advantage in the second set behind Diosa Perez and Mhonnieck Soliven, but the Lady Vikings countered with an 8-2 run to grab the lead at 24-22. Perez delivered a booming crosscourt hit that tied the score at 25-all. KMS countered with an attack and Soliven made an error that sealed California Academy’s doom.
Meanwhile, Emilio Aguinaldo College defeated Lyceum of the Philippines University, 25-19, 25-17, for its second straight win in Pool A. Angel Perez fired 10 points and Hanameel Saplot added nine. The Lady Brigadiers handed the Junior Lady Pirates their first loss in two outings.
In other matches, De La Salle-Zobel A pulled off a 25-20, 19-25, 25-21 victory over Corpus Christi School in Pool C, while Chiang Kai Shek College beat Holy Rosary College, 25-21, 25-21, in Pool B.
In Division 2 action, Assumption Antipolo rallied past Domuschola International School, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, in Pool F for its first win against two losses. Everest International Academy snapped De La Salle-Zobel B’s two-game roll with a 25-15, 23-25, 25-20 win for a 1-1 slate in Pool E.
