Iloilo city: The city government and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) are collaborating to host the "Lingkod Bayani (Trabaho at Serbisyo Hatid sa Bayan)" fair, a two-day event marking the Civil Service Month celebration in Western Visayas.
According to Philippines News Agency, fifteen government agencies are offering a total of 179 job vacancies, including entry-level positions. Participating agencies include the Commission on Audit, Department of Education Schools Division of Iloilo City, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Science and Technology, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, Guimaras State University, Iloilo City Government, Iloilo Provincial Government, Iloilo Science and Technology University, Northern Iloilo State University, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, West Visayas State University, and the CSC.
The event kicks off at 1 p.m. at SM City Activity Center on Tuesday and will continue until Wednesday. Public Employment Service Office Manager Gab Umadhay extended an invitation, stating, "To our workforce who are excited to work in the government, we are inviting you to join us in our Lingkod Bayani Express. This is a job fair that is opening opportunities for those who wish to work in the government and at the same time to have the privilege of serving the people."
In addition to job vacancies, various services will be available. Employment assistance will be provided by government agencies, while the Philippine Statistics Authority will assist with national ID needs, the National Bureau of Investigation will offer clearance services, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue will provide help with obtaining a tax identification number.
DOLE will present its programs, including the government internship program and other short-term employment initiatives. Umadhay emphasized the honor of serving the public, noting, "That is why we want to make sure that we celebrate their entry to government positions. We show them that government positions are available not only to the selected few but really for those who aspire to work for the country."
It's important to note that there will be no on-the-spot hiring as applicants must complete the required processes, including document submission and a preliminary interview. Candidates for higher positions should bring civil service eligibility documents or identification for those who passed board examinations, along with a resume.
