Manila: The southwest monsoon, locally known as 'habagat,' will bring occasional to scattered rains over parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Friday, the weather bureau announced.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated in its 4 a.m. bulletin that areas such as Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan will experience occasional rains. These regions face a risk of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

Metro Manila, alongside the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Northern Samar, will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms as a result of the southwest monsoon. The potential for flash floods or landslides persists due to moderate to sometimes heavy rains.

Other areas in the country are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms resulting from localized thunderstorms. PAGASA has issued a warning that severe thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides.

In Northern Luzon, winds will range from light to moderate, blowing from the southeast to northeast, with coastal waters expected to be slight to moderate, measuring between 0.6 meters and 2.5 meters. Luzon and the Visayas will experience similar wind conditions from the southwest to south, while Mindanao will have winds from the south to southwest, with coastal waters in these regions ranging from slight to moderate, between 0.6 meter and 1.8 meters.
