BOC Seizes PHP199-Million Worth of Illegal Drugs at NAIA

Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced the interception of illegal drugs worth PHP199.72 million at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The contraband was found in a shipment labeled as 'personal effects.'

According to Philippines News Agency, the BOC's statement revealed the shipment contained 28.3 kilograms of suspected shabu, 4.7 kilograms of suspected kush, and several towels and duvets soaked in suspected liquid marijuana. The package had arrived from Toronto, Canada, and underwent rigorous intelligence profiling, X-ray examination, and K-9 sweeping, which all indicated the presence of illegal drugs.

The BOC noted that a further investigation is underway before any charges are filed against those responsible for the shipment.
