Government Offices in NCR and 13 Provinces Implement Alternative Work Arrangements Due to Heavy Rainfall

Manila: Government offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) and 13 provinces will implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on Tuesday amid continued heavy rainfall associated with the southwest monsoon (habagat).

According to Philippines News Agency, Malaca±ang has issued this directive through Memorandum Circular No. 128, which covers Metro Manila and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro. This measure was recommended by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in response to heavy rainfall warnings from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Schools in the affected areas are advised to implement alternative learning modes for classes across all levels in both public and private schools, unless otherwise directed by their local chief executives. Government agencies responsible for basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other essential services are instructed to maintain operations and provide necessary services to the public.

Local chief executives also have the authority to order localized cancellations or suspensions of classes and work in government offices in other regions, in compliance with existing laws, rules, and regulations. For private companies and offices, the decision to suspend work or adopt alternative work arrangements remains at the discretion of their management.
