Iloilo city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office in Western Visayas (DSWD FO-6) has readied PHP116 million in relief resources to mitigate the anticipated effects of Super Typhoon Nando, internationally known as Ragasa. This preparation includes an extensive array of non-food items, ready-to-eat meals, and additional food and non-food supplies, complemented by standby funds.

According to Philippines News Agency, the department’s resources include non-food items valued at PHP26.29 million and ready-to-eat food costing over PHP4.88 million. In addition, there are food and other non-food commodities worth more than PHP113.56 million, along with PHP2.79 million in funds available at a moment’s notice as of 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The department emphasized its readiness for immediate distribution of these resources to residents affected by the typhoon. OIC-Regional Director Joselito Estember has also mobilized provincial and municipal quick response teams (QRTs) to enhance preparedness for the disaster. These teams have been instructed to maintain vigilance over their respective local government units (LGUs), ensure timely report submissions, and be ready to provide additional aid if necessary.

The staff has been urged to stay on high alert and maintain ongoing communication with LGUs to receive real-time updates on community impacts. “These proactive measures underscore the agency’s commitment to ensuring that no Filipino family goes hungry during times of disaster and that essential supplies and immediate support are ready well before any storm makes landfall,” stated the DSWD.
