Pasay city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB) has issued a call for more volunteers to aid in the production of family food packs (FFPs) at the Luzon Disaster Resource Center (LDRC) in Pasay City. This initiative is crucial to sustaining relief operations for communities impacted by Typhoon Tino, also known as Kalmaegi.
According to Philippines News Agency, Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) emphasized the significant role that volunteers play in the department’s mission. She noted that every volunteer contributes to the ‘Buong Bansa Handa’ objective, which is key to ensuring the department’s readiness in providing relief during crises. The collective efforts of volunteers embody the spirit of unity and compassion, which are essential to the mission of protecting and supporting Filipinos in times of need.
The DSWD welcomes volunteers daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with shifts from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The LDRC is prioritizing the efficient production of FFPs to enable the swift distribution of relief goods to the affected areas, particularly those already enduring the storm’s impact.
Assistant Secretary Dumlao underscored the importance of preparedness and community spirit, or “bayanihan,” in disaster response. This aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure timely aid delivery to all Filipinos during calamities.
Interested volunteers are encouraged to visit the LDRC at Chapel Road, Barangay 195, Pasay City, near the Airport Police and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
