Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is calling for volunteers to assist in the production of family food packs (FFPs) as part of its disaster preparedness and response efforts, which include ongoing relief operations for families affected by the unrest of Mt. Kanlaon on Negros Island.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD Field Office-7 – Central Visayas is seeking volunteers to aid in the production of FFPs at the Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) in Mandaue City, Cebu. This initiative aims to provide resource augmentation to the local government units impacted by the volcanic activity.

The VDRC warehouse, situated at the Wicker and Vine compound, B. Suico Street, Upper Tingub, Mandaue City, serves as the main production hub for the DSWD, catering to the entire Visayas and Mindanao regions. It is tasked with maintaining a daily inventory of no less than 100,000 boxes of FFPs. The National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Pasay City, which is the agency’s principal repacking hub, is also welcoming volunteers. This was announced in a Facebook post by the National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB), which oversees the warehouse operations.
