Cainta: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 4-A (Calabarzon) has allocated PHP20.3 million to address the effects of severe flooding in Cainta, Rizal. This funding, under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program, will support 400 local residents as they embark on a comprehensive drainage cleanup project along Imelda Avenue.
According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative aims to expedite the Imelda Avenue Drainage Cleanup Project, focusing on areas heavily affected by recent typhoons and the southwest monsoon. The 400 residents, who began work on Wednesday, will be engaged for 90 days to dredge canals, clear debris, and repair drainage lines. Each participant will earn PHP560 daily for their efforts.
The cleanup operation will span 12 subdivisions identified as severely affected. These include Vista Verde, Village East, Greenpark, Filinvest, Karangalan, Cypress, Country Homes, Kasibulan, Dacon Homes, Gruar, CVS, Villa Olympia, Serra Monte, Eastville, and Katarungan. Homeowners Associations (HOAs) will oversee the work, ensuring progress and adherence to timelines, and will submit weekly reports to the municipal government.
Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto stated that the municipal government will provide the necessary tools and materials for the project. Additionally, beneficiaries demonstrating consistent performance may be considered for future maintenance roles.
