Bogo city: The Department of Health (DOH) has deployed emergency medical response teams to Bogo City following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu Tuesday night.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DOH announced in a public advisory on Wednesday that the first batch of medical responders from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City was dispatched to Bogo early Wednesday morning. This deployment was made under the directive of Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa. The team comprises general surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, and orthopedic specialists, who are equipped with essential medical supplies and commodities to treat the injured.

By 8 a.m., a second batch of medical teams was also mobilized from Cebu City to support operations at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City. This response is in alignment with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide immediate assistance to communities impacted by the earthquake.

To enhance the emergency response, the DOH has implemented a Code White Alert across Central Visayas. This alert ensures that the DOH Operations Center, along with health facilities in the region, is fully equipped with medicines, medical equipment, and Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) to cater to the needs of the earthquake victims.

Authorities continue to closely monitor the situation, assuring the public that health services will remain accessible in the areas affected by the earthquake.
