Manila: Manila Central University (MCU) and Centro Escolar University (CEU) were the top-performing schools in the recent Optometrists Computer-Based Licensure Examination, according to the results recently released. CEU produced the highest number of passers with 180 out of 190 takers, while MCU boasted the top passing rate, achieving a perfect score with all 55 of its students passing.
According to Philippines News Agency, CEU had a strong presence in the top 10, with seven graduates achieving topnotcher status. Leading the group was Dr. Sienna Rose Mabuti, who secured the top spot with a score of 91.16 percent. Other notable CEU alumnae included Dr. Bea Dancel, who ranked third with 90.68 percent, Dr. Jehmianne Co at fourth with 90.63 percent, and Dr. Carla Ignacio, who rounded out the top five with a score of 90.31 percent.
Additional CEU graduates in the top 10 were Dr. Audrey Cajucom, who tied for eighth place with MCU’s Dr. Denielle Deligero, both scoring 89.86 percent, along with Dr. Alexie Salvador in ninth place with 89.68 percent, and Dr. Jamie Sumido in tenth with 89.67 percent. “Known as the home of board topnotchers, the CEU School of Optometry, led by its dean, Dr. Elena Borromeo, remains the country’s top provider of highly knowledgeable, skilled and globally competitive licensed optometrists,” CEU stated on Tuesday.
MCU also had a strong showing with two alumni in the top 10. Dr. Denielle Deligero tied for eighth place, and Dr. Lester Camu secured the seventh spot with a score of 89.91 percent. Another notable mention from the topnotcher list was Dr. Joella Borga from Cebu Doctors University, who placed sixth with a score of 90.09 percent.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has yet to announce the candidate who placed second in the exam. “The result of the examination with respect to one examinee was withheld pending submission of the required documents,” the PRC announced. Overall, 393 candidates passed the licensure exam out of 415 participants, resulting in a national passing rate of 94.7 percent for the October examination.
