Manila: Operations of Cebu Pacific’s Cebgo to Siargao and Masbate will be moved from Manila to Clark International Airport (CRK) beginning March 30. The move is in line with aviation authorities’ plan to gradually transfer turboprop operations from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to other airports.
According to Philippines News Agency, the resolution was issued by the Manila Slot Coordination Committee, which includes key aviation officials and the New NAIA Infra Corp. general manager. This committee, on December 3, 2024, decided to initiate the transfer of 30% of turboprop operations.
MIAA General Manager Eric Ines explained the initial transfer, noting that plans for the remaining operations are set for the winter schedule between 2025 and 2026. Ines highlighted that the shift aims to promote Clark and reduce aircraft congestion at NAIA, where smaller planes primarily service resort destinations like Siargao and Coron.
Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. (LIPAD) President and CEO Noel Mananquil expressed support for the move, acknowledging CRK’s capacity to connect international travelers to popular island destinations through its transfer facility.
Cebu Pacific spokesperson Carmina Romero announced that Cebgo’s flights from Manila to Surigao will be canceled starting March 30. Passengers can still connect to Surigao via Cebu, with options for free rebooking, refund, or storing the amount in a virtual CEB wallet available to affected passengers.
Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific’s subsidiary, AirSwift, will continue its operations from Manila until March 2026.
