Malaysian Contingent Secure First Medal At Paris 2024

PARIS, After over a week’s wait, the Malaysian contingent finally opened their medal account at the Paris 2024 Olympics through the men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik today. On the ninth day of the Games, Aaron-Wooi Yik showcased a dramatic comeback in the bronze medal match to defeat Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark. The 2022 world champions, who were trailing 16-20 in the second set, managed to close a four-point deficit to force a deciding set and ultimately won 16-21, 22-20, 21-19 at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena, thereby defending the bronze they won at Tokyo 2020.

New SMS scams with unclickable links identified

MANILA: The public is warned of a new short message service (SMS) scam that can evade automatic blocking tools by using unclickable links. In a statement, PLDT-Smart chief information security officer Jojo Gendrano said automatic blocking tools can prevent a significant number of SMS scam messages from reaching customers but scammers continue to look for new ways to continue their phishing activities. ‘They now send unclickable links, but with the same goal of luring customers into opening malicious domains,’ Gendrano said. Belgium withdraws from Paris triathlon relay after member falls ill

ANKARA: Team Belgium has withdrawn from Monday’s Paris 2024 triathlon relay after an Olympian fell sick. CPO futures end lower amid bearish global sentiment and strong Ringgit

KUALA LUMPUR, The crude palm oil (CPO) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives slipped on Monday, driven by bearish global sentiment and a sell-off in the equities market, said palm oil trader David Ng. Ng also said concerns over weak demand due to the ringgit’s strength are pressuring the CPO market. ‘We see the next price support at RM3,700 and resistance around RM3,870,’ he told Bernama. FBM KLCI Futures Close Lower

KUALA LUMPUR, The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower today, tracking the underlying cash market. Spot month August 2024 slipped 89.0 points to 1,530.0, September 2024 dropped 87.5 points to 1,513.0, December 2024 fell 89.5 points to 1,520.0 and March 2025 slid 90.0 points to 1,510.0. Turnover improved to 19,125 lots from 10,184 on Friday, while open interest increased to 63,439 contracts from 53,986 previously.
