Caraga: Authorities seized over PHP1.45 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 35 suspects during a series of anti-criminality operations held from Aug. 7 to 10, the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) said Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the operations, part of the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO), marked the first major campaign under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV, the newly appointed director of PRO-13.
Operatives confiscated 213.53 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) valued at PHP1.45 million, and six grams of marijuana worth PHP720, according to data from the PRO-13 Regional Operations Division.
The Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of arrests with 10 suspects, followed by Surigao del Sur with nine. Police in Agusan del Sur and Butuan City each apprehended six individuals, while Agusan del Norte reported four arrests.
The largest drug seizure occurred in Butuan City during the arrest of a high-value target known by his alias as ‘Insik.’ The 46-year-old suspect, a resident of Barangay Limaha, was apprehended on the night of Aug. 8 in Barangay Ambago. Authorities recovered suspected shabu items weighing 110 grams, with a street value of PHP748,000.
‘This is part of our intensified campaign against illegal drugs in the region. Let this be a warning – your Caraga cops will not stop until every drug personality is behind bars,’ Magistrado said.
