Manila: The Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) is a perfect example of deals anchored on principles of inclusivity, equality, and social justice, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) said on Thursday.
According to Philippines News Agency, OPAPRU chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. made the remark in commemoration of the 11th anniversary of the signing of the landmark peace pact between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). Galvez also stressed that the CAB embodies the hopes and dreams of the Bangsamoro people, noting that it is a realization of their collective aspiration to chart the future of their beloved homeland.
Within the next few months, Galvez highlighted that the political track of the CAB will be completed with the conduct of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s first-ever regular parliamentary elections on October 13. He emphasized that this political exercise will allow the Bangsamoro people to elect leaders who they believe are truly deserving of the positions they are vying for, marking the beginning of the Bangsamoro region’s full and genuine political autonomy.
Galvez reaffirmed the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity’s commitment to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s unwavering support of the Bangsamoro peace process. He also commended the MILF leadership and the people involved for their unwavering commitment to the Bangsamoro peace process, acknowledging their collaborative efforts with the national government in this remarkable peace journey.
Furthermore, Galvez extended gratitude to all peace partners and stakeholders, including local government units, civil society, the academe, the religious community, and the security sector, for their invaluable support towards the national government’s peace agenda. He called on all stakeholders to sustain and preserve the gains of peace, progress, and stability to ensure that they are felt by future generations of Filipinos.
