Manila: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Monday that it has partnered with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to enhance air navigation and safety measures.

According to Philippines News Agency, both CAAP and FAA signed a non-binding air navigation and implementation cooperation work plan in Bangkok, Thailand. This agreement outlines a framework for collaboration aimed at improving air navigation and safety through the exchange of non-sensitive data and resources. The initiative is part of a broader international effort to modernize aviation systems and practices.

The partnership will focus on several key areas, including the modernization of communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) systems, automation infrastructure, air traffic flow management, and contingency planning. Additionally, there is an emphasis on exploring the potential privatization of airports and air navigation and traffic services. CAAP Director General Manuel Tamayo emphasized the signific
ance of the collaboration, stating that the work plan demonstrates a shared commitment to a safer, more efficient, and innovative aviation industry. The agreement was signed by Tamayo and FAA’s Air Traffic Organization Chief Operating Officer Timothy Arel.

The CAAP has previously established partnerships with aviation agencies in other countries, including France, to enhance airworthiness and address issues such as carbonization, safety, and digitalization. France has been instrumental in providing training to CAAP personnel, contributing to the agency’s efforts to advance its capabilities.
