Bukidnon: Bukidnon is set to advance its coffee industry as a primary economic driver in 2026, with officials striving to establish the province as the country's Arabica capital. A comprehensive 10-year plan aims to expand Arabica coffee plantations to over 10,000 hectares by 2035.
According to Philippine News Agency, the Bukidnon Coffee Roadmap is a key element of the provincial agenda for livelihood expansion and sustainable growth. Governor Rogelio Neil Roque emphasized the importance of the roadmap in a convocation speech, stating, "The roadmap is not just a document. It is a path toward livelihood expansion, farmer empowerment, international recognition, and sustainable economic growth."
The roadmap outlines several strategic initiatives, including enhancing farmer support, improving the quality of coffee beans through training and post-harvest facilities, and increasing market access. These efforts are geared towards boosting income and building a globally competitive coffee industry.
As part of the plan, Bukidnon aims to become the leading producer of high-value Arabica coffee through structured development and value-adding processes, such as roasting and grinding.
