BOC Denounces Fake News on Seized Rolls-Royce from Discayas

Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) denied on Tuesday false and misleading information circulating online that alleged a Rolls-Royce vehicle seized from the Discaya couple was being driven around Metro Manila. In a statement, the bureau noted that the said vehicle, along with other luxury cars confiscated from contractors Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II and Cezarah Rowena “Sarah” Discaya — who are linked to the anomalies involving flood control projects — remains under its custody.

According to Philippines News Agency, the BOC emphasized that all seized vehicles are securely stored under the strict supervision of the Customs Police, safeguarded by physical barriers, security personnel, and inventory controls that prevent any unauthorized access, movement, or release. The BOC also noted that the plate number of the Rolls-Royce featured in the viral post ends in 949, while the seized vehicle under the Discaya case ends with 889. ‘This clearly disproves the claim circulating online,’ the statement said.

The BOC explained that no seized property may be removed or handled without proper authority and complete documentation. ‘Any unauthorized release, tampering, or movement of seized items constitutes a serious violation punishable under existing customs laws and regulations, including administrative and criminal penalties,’ the BOC said.

At the same time, the bureau urged the public to rely only on official BOC sources for verified information. False claims, fabricated stories, and other malicious content shared online mislead the public, the BOC pointed out. For clarifications and verified updates, the public is asked to visit the official BOC website at customs.gov.ph or follow its official social media pages.

The bureau also acknowledged the public for bringing such matters to its attention, affirming that it is doing its best to maintain integrity and public trust in all its operations. On Monday, a post went viral on social media, showing a photo of a luxury car which, it claimed was the one confiscated by the BOC from the controversial couple, but seen on the streets of Metro Manila.
