BARMM Launches P32.6-Million School Building Projects in Maguindanao Sur

Maguindanao Sur: The Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MBHTE-BARMM) is advancing its plan to construct school buildings and facilities across Maguindanao del Norte, officials announced Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, MBHTE-BARMM Minister Mohagher Iqbal stated that the initiative reflects the regional government’s commitment to investing in education. Iqbal emphasized the significance of these projects, remarking that they are not only about constructing buildings but also about laying the foundation for the future of children in the region. He expressed the commitment to providing every Bangsamoro learner with a safe and nurturing learning environment.

On Wednesday, MBHTE officials led groundbreaking ceremonies for PHP32.6 million worth of infrastructure projects in the School Division Office of Maguindanao del Norte. The projects include the creation of a one-story, two-classroom building at Mompong Elementary School in Barangay Bugawas, Datu Odin Sinsuat. Additionally, four more schools-Sarilika National High School, Taviran Elementary School, Linek Elementary School, and Margues Elementary School-will see new construction initiatives.

Margues Elementary School, situated in Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat, will also benefit from the addition of a covered court with a stage. Furthermore, a water sanitation project, including water source development, is set to benefit Datu Pinguiaman Elementary School in Barangay Pinguiaman, Datu Odin Sinsuat. An Educational Learning Center will be established in Barangay Bugawas to further enhance educational access.

The MBHTE has initiated the construction of school facilities in the Special Geographic Area of BARMM, marking a significant step towards expanding access to quality education across the region.
