Aurora: The province of Aurora is in mourning after Governor Reynante Tolentino passed away on Monday morning. He was 74. Tolentino succumbed to a lingering illness, which had earlier prompted him to file for a hospital leave on Aug. 20.
According to Philippines News Agency, despite his condition, he returned to the Capitol on Sept. 1, determined to continue his advocacy of ‘Serbisyong Bukas Palad’ (Open-Handed Service) for every resident. Tolentino was regarded as a veteran public servant and a compassionate leader.
He began his political career as Mayor of Dipaculao, later serving as Board Member, Acting Vice Governor, and Acting Governor before being officially elected as Governor in the 2025 midterm elections.
