Paris: The Filipino culture and diaspora abroad hogged the spotlight at a Paris art exhibition, curated by Frederick Epistola of Art Show Philippines this month. The International Art Gallery in France is hosting the six-day art show "The Filipino Diaspora" until Sept. 13, exploring themes of migration, memory, and the enduring resilience of the Filipino creative spirit.

According to Philippines News Agency, the exhibition stands as a testament to the collective spirit and cultural pride of the Filipino community, honoring individuals who bridge horizons and ensure that the Filipino identity thrives across borders. The show, described by the curator as a "bridge spanning oceans and time," features works capturing Filipino elements from Luzon's bustling streets, Visayas, and Mindanao to the ateliers of Paris, Bologna, and Brussels.

"The Filipino Diaspora is more than a collection of art. It is a bridge," Epistola stated. "Through these works, we aim to capture the beauty of finding home in new horizons while keeping our roots planted in the heart of our culture," he added.

At its inauguration on Sept. 8, Consul General Noemi Diaz emphasized the importance of representing Philippine culture on the global stage and fostering stronger ties between nations through the arts. The show drew a distinguished crowd of art enthusiasts, diplomats, and members of the Filipino community, described by the curator as a "poignant dialogue between the artistic landscapes of the Philippines and Europe."

A highlight of the exhibition was the recognition of Christopher Alcantara, whose entry "Entre Deux Monde" was awarded Best in Show. His work presented a distinct perspective on the themes of displacement and the resilience of the Filipino spirit.
