Antique Joins PH Top 10 Local Economies After 8.55% Surge

San jose de buenavista: The economy of Antique grew by 8.55 percent in 2025, making it one of the 10 fastest local economies in the country. This was announced by Governor Paolo Everardo Javier during the third quarter meeting of the Provincial Development Council (PDC) at the New Antique Capitol in San Jose de Buenavista on Wednesday. The 8.55-percent growth is nearly twice the national growth rate of 4.4 percent.

According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Javier highlighted that this achievement signifies Antique's progress in becoming more competitive. He attributed the economic performance to the hard work of the people and committed to further strengthening economic programs and services to ensure sustainable opportunities, increased productivity, better livelihoods, and improved quality of life for the residents.

Governor Javier also emphasized the importance of the "Konsultasyon sa Katawhan kag Kabarangayan" (Consultation among the people and barangays or 3Ks) Program, which was adopted during the first quarter meeting of the PDC. This program aims to align development plans and investments with the actual needs of the communities. He stressed that the program plays a critical role in ensuring that proposed projects address the needs of the Antique±os effectively.

In addition, Governor Javier cited the Provincial Electric Power Subsidy (PEPS) as one of the initiatives implemented under his administration as a result of the 3Ks. The subsidy provides PHP500 per month for every household, helping 105,215 beneficiaries save on power bills and thereby boosting the local economy through increased spending on other needs.
