Manila: Publicly listed Alternergy Holding Corporation (Alternergy) is acquiring two wind energy projects in Quezon province, with a potential capacity of around 331.2 megawatts. The renewable energy firm, in a disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Monday, stated that its special purpose company, Calavite Passage Wind Power Corporation, will acquire CleanTech Global Renewables Inc.’s Tayabas South Wind Energy and the Tayabas North Wind Energy projects through a Deed of Assignment.

According to Philippines News Agency, data from the Department of Energy’s (DOE) website showed that both projects are still under pre-development and are part of the Department’s 4th Green Energy Auction (GEA) as of April 30, 2025. The north project boasts a potential capacity of around 144 megawatts (MW), while the south project has a potential of 187.20 MW.

The disclosure further noted that as of September 5, the North Wind Energy project has a projected capacity of 96MW and is included in DOE’s preliminary list of accepted bids. Alternergy president Gerry Magbanua mentioned that these acquisitions form part of the company’s next project pipeline once it achieves a 500 MW capacity. “We are excited to develop our second wind project in Quezon Province after our 64MW Alabat Wind Project is completed in early 2026,” Magbanua said.

CleanTech chief executive officer Salvador Antonio Castro Jr. stated that they will retain an equity stake in the two energy projects and have the option to co-invest. “We look forward to co-developing these wind projects with Alternergy, the pioneer in wind energy in the country,” Castro Jr. commented.
