Pangasinan: A total of 906 families, or 2,885 individuals, in Pangasinan province remained in evacuation centers as of Tuesday due to flooding brought by weather disturbances. In a phone interview on Tuesday, Pia Flores, head of the Emergency Operations Center Unit of Pangasinan's Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the evacuees are residents of Calasiao, Mangatarem, Lingayen, and Dagupan City.

According to Philippines News Agency, reports indicate 137 barangays across Calasiao, Mangatarem, Lingayen, Bugallon, Binmaley, Urbiztondo, San Carlos City, Sta. Barbara, Bautista, and Dagupan City are still flooded. Nonetheless, water levels in the province's river systems are receding.

The local government units (LGUs), provincial government, and national government continue to provide food and non-food item relief assistance to affected families. On Tuesday, the LGUs of Binmaley, Mangatarem, Bayambang, Calasiao, Malasiqui, Mangaldan, San Jacinto, and San Carlos City suspended classes due to inclement weather and flooding in their localities.

Flores said three casualties from the weather disturbances since Aug. 2 have been validated. One was from Labrador, who was killed due to land erosion, and the other two were from San Carlos City, who both drowned after their tricycle fell into a creek due to an accident while traveling on a flooded road.

"We are under blue alert status, but the barangays may opt to maintain red alert status if they deem it necessary to ensure the safety of their constituents," Flores said. The province has been under a state of calamity since Aug. 31.
