Quezon city: Nearly 12,000 troops and militiamen have been deployed to secure the first-ever Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary polls on September 14, the Philippine Army (PA) announced on Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala, in a press briefing at Camp Aguinaldo, detailed that 11,900 soldiers and Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA) members from the 1st, 6th, and 11th Infantry Divisions have been deployed as of September 6, 2026. This significant deployment aims to ensure the security and smooth conduct of the historic electoral process.
In addition to the military personnel, the Philippine Army has also positioned armored and field artillery units to enhance mobility and provide fire support capabilities. The deployment includes forces from the 10th Infantry Division to bolster security operations for the BARMM polls.
Col. Dema-ala emphasized the commitment of PA personnel to maintain non-partisanship, professionalism, and impartiality in the execution of their duties during the electoral period.
