Manila: The Philippine Navy (PN) has conducted seven patrols in Bajo de Masinloc (BdM) in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) in September, amid China’s plan to create a nature reserve at the shoal. In a press briefing in Camp Aguinaldo, PN spokesperson for the WPS Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad announced that the Navy also conducted one patrol mission in the country’s “Northern Islands,” referring to islands in Northern Luzon. Bicol: Government agencies in the Bicol Region have begun preparations for the potential impact of a weather disturbance expected to enter the country this week, to be named “Opong.” Commodore Ivan Roldan, commander of the Philippine Coast Guard District Bicol, said stations and sub-stations are on heightened alert, with personnel and resources on standby. According to Philippines News Agency, Commodore Roldan stated, “As part of our proactive measures, we have activated Disaster Response Groups (DRGs), intensified monitoring of all ports, and are closely coordinating with local government units, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, and other relevant agencies.”

Pangasinan: The Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported a total of 3,587 families or 10,629 individuals in the province have been affected by Super Typhoon Nando (international name Ragasa) as of 11 a.m. Tuesday.
