Ilocos norte: The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Ilocos Norte on Tuesday urged residents to observe minimum health standards to prevent the spread of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) amid a sharp increase in the number of cases. Bicol: The inflation rate in the Bicol Region decreased from 1.7 percent in July to 1.0 percent in August, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-5) reported Tuesday. Rey Merjilla, chief statistician specialist of PSA-5, highlighted key changes in the region’s economic indicators for the month. According to Philippines News Agency, Merjilla explained that the average inflation rate in the Bicol Region from January to August stood at 2 percent. Manila: The Philippines’ second guided Malvar-class missile frigate, to be named BRP Diego Silang (FFG-07) upon commissioning, has reached the country, as announced by the Philippine Navy (PN) on Tuesday. The vessel was officially received by the PN’s first guided-missile frigate, the BRP Jose Rizal (FF-150), upon its entry into Philippine waters on Monday, according to PN public affairs office chief Captain Benjo Negranza.
