OPAPRU Encourages Filipinos to Embrace Patriotism Inspired by Heroes’ Sacrifices

Manila: The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) on Monday urged Filipinos to take inspiration from the patriotism and selflessness exhibited by the country’s past and present-day heroes. “May this day be a time of deep reflection on the impact of their heroism on our lives and our nation, and inspire us to be patriots in the truest sense,” OPAPRU chief, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., conveyed in his National Heroes’ Day message. According to Philippines News Agency, Galvez emphasized the pivotal role that the sacrifices of past heroes played in freeing the Philippines from colonization.

Fuel Prices Up Anew on Tuesday

Manila: Prices of fuel will rise anew, with a range of PHP0.30 to PHP0.70 per liter, on Aug. 26. In an advisory, Seaoil said gasoline prices would increase by PHP0.70 per liter, diesel by PHP0.50 per liter, and kerosene by PHP0.30 per liter, effective 6 a.m. According to Philippines News Agency, Jetti Petroleum, in a separate advisory, said prices of its gasoline products would increase by PHP0.70 per liter and diesel by PHP0.50 per liter. PNP-GH Resumes Operations Following Fire Incident

Quezon city: The Philippine National Police-General Hospital (PNP-GH) at Camp Crame has resumed normal operations after a fire that broke out in a section of the hospital was extinguished on Sunday night. According to Philippines News Agency, the fire began at approximately 10:20 p.m., accompanied by an explosion that occurred between the hospital’s special ward and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This incident prompted an immediate response from the Base Fire Section Emergency Team and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Quezon City. The fire escalated to a first alarm but was successfully declared out by 11:19 p.m.

Iloilo Liga ng Barangay Eyes Expansion of ‘Aid on Wheels’ Program

Iloilo: The Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) in Iloilo province is hoping to expand its ‘Barangay Aid on Wheels’ program to assist local officials in handling legal issues in their locality. LnB Iloilo president and ex-officio Board Member Amalia Victoria Debuque said they would also like to include in the program the Lupon ng Tagapamayapa and members of barangay tanod or village security.
