PCG Evacuates Over 500,000 People from Six Regions Ahead of ‘Pepito’.

Manila: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) evacuated 561,528 individuals and 161,527 families from six regions as of Sunday morning ahead of Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-yi). According to Philippines News Agency, the evacuations were conducted by approximately 6,790 personnel as part of the PCG’s monitoring activities in the Bicol, Southern Tagalog, Northwestern Luzon, Northeastern Luzon, National Capital Region (NCR), and Eastern Visayas regions. The PCG Command has deployed seven vessels and 613 land mobility and surface vehicles to support the national government’s humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations. Pangasinan: An estimated 98 families from Pangasinan and La Union left their homes as of Saturday night due to storm surge threats from Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi). The Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) continues to verify information on the number of evacuees, but initial reports placed these to around 98 families or 242 individuals.
