Pamplona: The local government of Pamplona in Cagayan province has already distributed shelter repair kits and tarpaulins to 12 households and a chapel hit by a tornado Sunday noon. The materials came from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and were delivered by the Office of Civil Defense in Region 2 last week.

According to Philippines News Agency, Hadji Bacuyag, head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office-Quick Response Team 18 of Pamplona town, stated that the tornado traversed the national highway and destroyed houses in Sitio Limittung in Barangay Sta. Cruz all the way to Barangay Bagu around noon. The tornado occurred while Super Typhoon Pepito was slamming a large part of Luzon.

Bacuyag noted that, fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident. He also mentioned that the houses hit by the tornado were recently repaired from the previous typhoons that struck this part of Luzon. He added that their galvanized iron sheets were newly replaced, underscoring the
repeated challenges faced by the affected families.
