6,130 doping control samples collected at Paris Olympics

A total of 6,130 samples were collected in the doping control program during the Paris Olympic Games, covering 39 percent of all participating athletes and nearly all the delegations, the International Testing Agency (ITA) announced. The number of samples collected in Paris was a four percent increase compared to Tokyo 2020 and 10 percent higher than Rio 2016. Up until Thursday, five anti-doping rule violations were reported based on results from samples the ITA collected during Paris 2024 where the vast majority of doping controls implemented were targeted based on risk assessment. China launches 6 new satellites into space

China on Friday launched six new satellites into space, state media reported. The Jilin-1 Kuanfu 02B 01-06 satellites were sent into space from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern Shanxi province. A home-built Long March-2D carrier rocket carried the satellites, which entered the preset orbit successfully. It was 536th flight mission of Chia’s Long March carrier rocket series. The latest satellite launch comes a day after China launched two new BeiDou-3 Navigation Satellite System (BDS-3) satellites. Davao City embraces modern tech to advance precision agriculture

The City Agriculturist Office (CAgro) is ramping up efforts to modernize farming practices by incorporating precision agriculture technologies, including the Geographic Information System (GIS). In a news release Friday, CAgro’s Agricultural Biosystem Engineering Division head Christian John Abrenica said the technology allows for precise application of inputs like fertilizers, pesticides, and water, improving overall efficiency. “We utilize software to create maps, and we are currently developing one for Davao City that details land cover and the various crops grown.
