NEDA: Gov’t pushes for reforms for sustained economic growth

Fisher missing for a month rescued off Batanes waters

Manila: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued a fisher reported missing for more than a month off the waters of Basco, Batanes on Thursday. Robin Dejillo, 49, of Barangay Dinahican, Infanta, Quezon, was sighted on board his white motorbanca by a Coast Guard Station Batanes patrol team. He was reported missing on Aug. 4. Dejillo said he failed to return to their mother boat after his motorized boat ran out of gas. He said he survived at sea by drinking rainwater and eating fish and coconuts he found floating. Global economic growth decelerates to 2.9% in 2024-2025

NPA member facing murder case nabbed in Masbate

A New People’s Army (NPA) rebel wanted for attempted murder was arrested in Masbate province on Thursday, the Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO-5) reported on Friday. Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said “Nathan,” a member of the Special Partisan Unit, was nabbed in his house in Cawayan town after being served a warrant. The recommended bail was PHP120,000. NSA: PH to maintain constant presence in Escoda Shoal

Manila: The Philippines would maintain continuous presence in the Escoda (Sabina) Shoal, the country’s top security adviser said Friday.
