Belgium withdraws from Paris triathlon relay after member falls ill

ANKARA: Team Belgium has withdrawn from Monday’s Paris 2024 triathlon relay after an Olympian fell sick. DOH notes 40% rise of dengue cases in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY: The Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Bicol (DOH-CHD-5) is urging the public to practice the “4S” strategy to combat dengue after the region logged a 40-percent increase in cases compared to the same period last year. In a report on Monday, the agency said there were 715 cases from Jan. 1 to July 13, whereas 512 dengue cases were recorded for the same period in 2023. EX-Iloilo City village chief shot dead

ILOILO CITY: A former barangay chairperson was shot dead in La Paz district here Monday. Ernie Poral, 63, former chair of Barangay Ingore, La Paz, was shot in the head by a gunman in Barangay Baldoza at 7:12 a.m. Police said Poral was buying feeds when the gunman shot him at close range. The suspect fled on a motorcycle. DND to buy ballistic helmets, military body armor for soldiers

MANILA: The Department of National Defense (DND) is allocating some PHP11.7 billion to buy ballistic helmets and military body armors for some 115,000 Philippine Army (PA) soldiers.
