BFAR: Tilapia from San Roque Dam reservoir fails toxicity test

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Ilocos regional office prohibits the gathering, harvesting, selling, and eating of tilapia from the San Roque Dam’s reservoir due to the high presence of arsenic in the fish.   San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) vice president for corporate social responsibility Tommy Valdez said the samples taken from the reservoir had never passed the standard of BFAR since 2019.   “BFAR’s standard for arsenic is two micrograms per kilogram (mg/km), and the samples taken from the reservoir is between 4.9 mg/km to 8.3 mg/km,” he said in a statement on Friday.   The

Classes suspended as clashes displaced NegOcc residents

US donates P7.6-M disaster relief supplies to Cagayan

DILG launches whole-of-nation approach vs. illegal drugs

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Friday launched a program aimed at implementing a whole-of-nation approach to eliminate illegal drugs in the country.   In a statement, Interior Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” C. The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is expecting to finish this month its verification of the records of more than 48,000 Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) workers whose visas were already canceled.   “This is more than 48,000. AWOL soldier guns down ex-vice mayor in Samar town

A former vice mayor of Calbiga, Samar was gunned down by a soldier listed as AWOL (absence without leave) along a major highway in the province on Friday morning, the police reported.   Miguel Abaigar Jr., 54, a resident of Canticum village in Calbiga town, was biking in Timbangan village when Allan Malageuno, 43, a resident of Catbalogan City, shot him using a .45 caliber pistol.   The bullet hit Abaigar’s back killing him instantly, according to the police.   The suspect was identified with the help of witnesses.   After the shooting, the suspect on board a motorcycle drove
