Ilocos: A total of 161 individuals were arrested for various crimes in the Ilocos Region from August 26 to September 6, the regional police reported on Tuesday. In a statement, Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 (Ilocos Region) director Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes announced that among the 161 arrested, 67 were drug suspects apprehended during 56 anti-illegal drug operations. These operations resulted in the confiscation of PHP6.1 million worth of illegal drugs, including 602.05 grams of suspected shabu and 60.73 grams of marijuana. Additionally, authorities eradicated 10,250 fully grown marijuana plants and 1,000 seedlings.
According to Philippines News Agency, the remaining suspects included nine individuals identified as Most Wanted Persons. The PRO-1 also executed 15 operations targeting illegal possession of firearms, leading to the arrest of 12 individuals. During these operations, 13 firearms were confiscated, and 36 unexploded ordnance items were recovered.
Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes stated that these arrests underscore the unwavering commitment of PRO-1 to hold criminals accountable and ensure justice for victims. He assured the residents of the Ilocos region that the police are dedicated to protecting lives, enforcing laws, and fostering lasting peace.
