Pangasinan records highest single-day recoveries of 807

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported 807 recovered coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases on Wednesday, the highest single-day tally in the province, pushing the total number of recovered patients to 17,073 as of Sept. 1.

In an interview on Thursday, PHO chief Dr. Anna. Ma. Teresa de Guzman attributed the recovery to the expertise, commitment, and passion of the health workers supporting the Covid-19 patients, as well as the readiness of the hospitals with equipment and medications for coronavirus.

De Guzman said most of the patients are under home quarantine or are in various isolation facilities of the local government units and hospitals.

“Most of our patients are those who had close contact with previously tested positive individuals. There are also authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) and frontline health workers,” she said.

However, the Covid-19 tracker of the PHO listed 210 new cases, raising the active cases to 2,521 as of Wednesday.

The province recorded a total of 20,385 coronavirus cases as of Sept. 1.

Meanwhile, some 25 more fatalities have also been recorded, bringing the Covid-19 death tally of the province to 791.

De Guzman said most of the casualties are those under the vulnerable group, or who have not yet been vaccinated.
