Manila: No wind signal is hoisted on any part of the country as Severe Tropical Storm Francisco further weakens, the weather bureau said in its 11 a.m. bulletin on Thursday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Francisco packs maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 115 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. It was last located 510 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, moving north northeastward at 20 kph.
Francisco's periphery and the southwest monsoon (habagat) will cause strong to gale-force gusts across Panay Island, Negros Occidental, Northern Samar, and most of Luzon. PAGASA added that rough seas may prevail across the northern and eastern seaboards of Batanes. Mariners of small seacraft, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture to the sea.
Meanwhile, Francisco is forecast to gradually weaken and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) during the day, PAGASA added.
