Manila: The Embassies of the United States, Canada, and Australia have expressed their readiness to assist in the ongoing relief efforts in regions severely impacted by Typhoon Tino, internationally known as Kalmaegi.
According to Philippines News Agency, US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson announced that the US Embassy in Manila is coordinating with its partners in the Philippines and is prepared to provide assistance. In a post on X, Carlson conveyed her sympathy to those affected by the devastation and extended condolences to the families of the victims. She also commended the efforts of first responders at the scene.
The Canadian Embassy in Manila echoed similar sentiments, expressing its willingness to collaborate with Philippine government agencies and humanitarian partners to address urgent needs and bolster recovery efforts. The embassy highlighted its solidarity with those affected in the central Philippines, offering condolences to those who have lost loved ones and acknowledging the challenges faced by communities dealing with displacement and damage.
Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown also conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased. In a separate post on X, he affirmed Australia’s readiness to work with the Philippine government and partners to aid recovery efforts.
Several other foreign missions, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and the European Union, have also expressed their support and sympathies to the victims of the typhoon. The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement extending condolences and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
Typhoon Tino caused significant devastation across the Visayas and Mindanao regions, leading to massive flooding and claiming over a dozen lives in various areas, including Cebu.
